Sir John de la Pole, 6th Baronet

Sir John de la Pole, Bart (26 June 1757 – 30 November 1799) was the 6th Baronet and Member of Parliament for the rotten borough of West Looe.

Sir John de la Pole was educated at Blundell's School in Tiverton and represented the constituency of West Looe from 1790 to 1796. He was listed as hostile to the repeal of the Test Act in 1791.

Pole's greatest achievement was the replacement of his family’s seat at Shute Barton, near Axminster, Devon with the nearby Shute House in the Adam style in 1787-90. This house, with fine rooms of the period, later became a girl's school and the family subsequently returned to the old Shute Barton.

His will directed that he should not be removed from his house till the clearest and most unequivocal signs of death appear, to be ascertained by six persons.
